Pushpa Anand hails
from an illustrious and philanthropic family in Chennai, where music
is an integral part of life. Growing amidst exponents and connoisseurs
of music, her latent talent was first spotted by Swami Haridoss
Giri, the saint who propagated "Bhakti" through His
soul-stirring music and engrossing lectures. He put her on to Dr. M L
Vasantakumari, who moulded Pushpa till her last days. Pushpa now
continues under the able tutelage of P S Narayanaswamy.
Pushpa had earlier been to Srilanka for a
Bharatanatyam recital some years back. She has also acted in the
Children's Film "Purandaradasa" and won the Best Child Artist Award.
She has won innumerable first prizes in various competitions right
from her childhood. In the Bharatiyar competition she was awarded a
gold medal for her musical clarity and pronounciation. Pushpa's
passion for Carnatic music is now much more intense and she is
devoting herself to this. Having graduated with a Masters Degree in
Music, Pushpa is all set to grasp the nuances of this ancient art.
As is often said, "Music is friend of pleasure,
wisdom's aid", Pushpa's music is all-encompassing and is to be
cherished and enjoyed. As a performing artiste, right from an early
age Pushpa's rendition received much critical acclaim. Concert tours
all over the country put her into limelight. Her performance at the
"Spirit of Unity Concert" of Puttaparti, at London and other places
gave a boost to her musical career. She has been performing in all
leading and renowned Sabhas in Chennai and other cities in India.
Music without movies is incomplete. Pushpa has
given her melodic voice for two numbers in Telugu and Malayalam
movies, which have gained much appreciation and well deserved
recognition. K Balachander and G M Kumar's tele-serials and others by
noted movie/TV directors have opened out new frontiers and
opportunities for her to showcase her talent. She has also sung in the
album "Mangalam" released by Magnasound. Continuing to perform
with constant creativity, interest and a deep-felt urge to succeed,
Pushpa marches ahead in the musical world.
Pushpa's entry into the advertising world is
distinctly characterised by her work in innumerable ad jingles. Her
music being one of a different kind, blended into the fusion music and
fast numbers, thereby enhancing the tone and quality without losing
her inherent classical touch. Ponds, Clinic Shampoo, Spinz, Ramco
Cement, Prince Jewellery, Ranjana Sarees are some of the catchy and
attractive jingles Pushpa has given her mellifluous voice to. |
